Why? In todays society it is important to have a more than average grasp of English. You come across English everywhere today: in the media, in science and technology, to name just a few obvious examples. Once you leave school a good grasp of English can be of vital importance. Your study books will be written in English and lectures will often be delivered in English. This is why the “Driestar College” has assembled a well-trained and enthousiastic body of TTO teachers to help you prepare for your future.
Who? Bilingual education demands a lot of you as a pupil, but you will receive a lot in return! Therefore TTO is aimed at highly motivated children who have also received a “VWO” advice from their primary school. We, as a school, assume that you have broad cultural interests and that you can work together well with others. To be accepted into our TTO course you will have to write a letter outlining your reasons for wanting to participate in the course. Secondly you will also have to do a small translation test and finally there will be an interview regarding your motivation for this course.
What? You will follow the same program as is offered in the “VWO”, with this one big difference that at least half of your lessons will be given in English. We offer the following subjects in English: * Religion * Geography * History * Maths * Man and Nature / Biology. * PE (Physical Education) * English * Art * Physics Part of the program involves excursions and an exchange program. For this reason we request additional school fees. Let us know if these extra costs, however, are an impediment to participating in TTO. The TTO program lasts at least 3 years. You will be trained for an internationally recognised certificate. Please take note that we also offer a VWO+ class coupled with VTO (Versterkt Talen Onderwijs), also to be given by our TTO teachers. Information meetings? We heartily invite you to our Open Day on D.V. Saturday the 16th of January, 2010 and the information evening (together with VTO+) on D.V. Monday the 8th of March, 2010. For any further information after the Open Days then please contact our TTO coordinator, Mrs. E.M. Van der Kolk-de Pater at kkp@driestarcollege.nl.
